Bitcoin is currently exhibiting a period of low volatility, with its Bollinger Bands narrowing to one of the tightest levels observed in two and a half years. According to Barchart, the gap between these bands is now $5,368, which represents approximately 6.5 percent of the asset's current price. Analysts note that such compression in trading patterns has historically preceded significant price movements.
The current price of Bitcoin hovers near $82,538, marking a 0.92 percent increase over the last 24 hours. Market participants are closely monitoring the $80,000 to $85,000 range as a critical battleground. Historical data shows that previous volatility squeezes in May and August resulted in price swings of nearly 30 percent and over 35 percent, respectively.
Analyst Ted Pillows highlights that maintaining a weekly close above $82,000 is a key support level, though trading volume has remained weak since June. To establish strong upward momentum, the asset needs to reclaim the $84,500 mark. A daily close above $85,000 could potentially drive the price toward $87,000 or $89,358.
Conversely, if the price drops below the $80,000 support level, it may expose further support zones near $79,033 and $77,876. A more significant market correction could push the price into the range of $73,000 to $75,000. Investors are advised to watch trading volume closely, as it will serve as a primary indicator for the direction of the next breakout.
