Bitcoin sell-side risk has dropped to historic lows, signaling a period of reduced market pressure. According to Glassnode data, the Sell-Side Risk Ratio (SSRR) fell from 16 in late August to 7 this week. This metric, which compares realized profits and losses to the realized market cap, suggests that the recent price rebound above $80,000 triggered minimal supply movement.

On-chain activity indicates that long-term holders are currently realizing profits at a significantly lower rate. Their share of realized profit dropped from 88% during the August peak to 47% this month. Furthermore, the realized profit spike observed on September 3, 2026, was less than half the volume recorded in August, reflecting a cooling in profit-taking behavior.

Market analysts note that the Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR) has maintained net profit levels for the longest duration in 2026, supporting a potential bullish trend. While investors remain in aggregate profit, the current low sell-side risk may mitigate concerns regarding potential panic selling during price corrections.

Regarding institutional holdings, US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) investors are expected to reach aggregate profit at a price point of $86,000. Bitcoin has remained below this threshold for 229 consecutive sessions, with current paper losses for ETF investors estimated at $3,9 billion.
