Google search interest for the term bitcoin has dropped to 14 on a 100-point scale, marking a six-year low. Analyst Willy Woo suggests this decline serves as a contrarian buy signal, based on his rule that the optimal time to purchase is when public interest is minimal.

The current market dynamics differ from previous cycles. While general interest remains low, searches for BTCUSD reached a record high in 2025. This shift indicates that professional traders and ETF investors, rather than retail newcomers, are currently driving market activity.

Bitcoin currently holds a market capitalization of approximately $1,65 trillion. In comparison, the gold market is valued at roughly $29,3 trillion, and global equities reached $157,8 trillion by the end of 2025. Analysts debate whether this gap suggests future growth potential.

Historical data shows that search patterns do not always align perfectly with price peaks. For instance, in 2021, search interest peaked six months before the price top. Current market participants also point to geopolitical factors and energy concerns as potential drivers for price stagnation.
