Binance Pay is launching a new service allowing international travelers to spend Tether USDt (USDT) at merchants across Japan that support the PayPay payment system. The integration will officially begin this Wednesday.

The service operates through HIVEX, a payment interoperability framework that connects foreign QR-based payment services to the PayPay network. While users pay in USDT, merchants will receive their settlements in Japanese yen.

Binance stated that it is the first cryptocurrency payment provider to gain access to the PayPay merchant network via HIVEX. Stores do not need to take any additional action to accept these payments, as the process is handled automatically.

PayPay is widely used across Japan, with acceptance at millions of locations, including retail chains, vending machines, taxis, and public transport. HIVEX currently supports nine other overseas payment services, primarily from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
