Binance reported a decline in Ethereum reserves to 3.47 million ETH in early October 2026, marking a six-month low. This figure represents an 11.5% decrease from the 3.92 million ETH held in August 2026.
On October 6, the exchange processed over 320,000 ETH withdrawal transactions, setting a new record. This trend follows a consistent reduction from 3.54 million ETH in late September to 3.57 million ETH shortly before the current low.
The decline in exchange reserves coincided with a market downturn, where ETH lost 10–11% of its value over three days, erasing over $38 billion in market capitalization. The broader altcoin market also saw a reduction of more than $110 billion in value.
Institutional investors exhibited a different trend, as US-listed spot ETH ETFs recorded eight consecutive days of outflows in October 2026. These outflows amounted to approximately $580 million, signaling a divergence between retail exchange users and institutional fund holders.
