Beyond Reach Labs, a Brooklyn-based aerospace startup, has secured $10 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round. The investment was led by Interlagos, with participation from Y Combinator, Augur, TerraForge, and Off Piste. This round brings the company's total funding to more than $11 million.
The startup develops Flarewing, a deployable solar array designed for space infrastructure. The system folds to the size of a dining table for launch and expands to the length of a football field in orbit. According to the company, the design provides up to 10 times more power per launch compared to traditional rigid panels.
The company operates a 16,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Industry City, New York. Beyond Reach Labs plans to ground-qualify its first unit by the end of 2026 and aims to reach a production capacity of 10 or more units per day by the end of 2027.
The technology targets the growing demand for space power, driven by an expected increase from 12,000 satellites currently in orbit to 100,000 by 2030. The company estimates this market opportunity at $100 billion, with a total power demand of 10 gigawatts projected over the next five years.
