FARA CRM updated its file handling processes, identifying three primary methods for HTTP uploads. While sending files via JSON or multipart/form-data is common, both methods face limitations regarding proxy size constraints, memory usage, and the lack of resumable uploads for large files.
The company recommends a chunked upload approach for files exceeding a few dozen megabytes. This method involves splitting files into 8 MB segments, tracking the offset on the server, and using specific HTTP status codes like 409 to prevent data duplication. Background tasks are used to clear incomplete uploads.
For file downloads, the company advises streaming data instead of loading it into memory. Implementing the Range header and 206 Partial Content status is necessary for video seeking and resumable downloads. Proper security measures include using filename* for encoding, serving untrusted files as attachments to prevent XSS, and using ETag for caching.
