Jesse Pollak, the creator of the Coinbase Ethereum layer-2 network Base, forecasts a tokenization supercycle. He expects this growth to be driven by tokenized equities and non-dollar stablecoins.

The prediction follows the recent implementation of the Cobalt upgrade on Base, which introduces new issuer controls for tokenized assets. Market data shows that tokenized equities reached a record $4,87 billion in September 2026.

While dollar-pegged stablecoins currently dominate the market, non-dollar alternatives remain a smaller segment. Coinbase-issued tokenized stocks on Base recorded $1,5 billion in DEX volume over the last 30 days, marking a 313% increase compared to the previous period.

Market participants are tracking potential developments regarding a possible Base token launch by December 2026. Factors such as ecosystem expansion, regulatory shifts, and changes in stablecoin dynamics are being monitored for their impact on the network.
