Amazon Web Services has introduced new AI-driven features for its AWS Elemental infrastructure to enhance live video streaming. The updates include dynamic multiview, real-time scene analysis, and low-latency ad insertion, all integrated directly into the core video pipeline to reduce operational complexity.
The AWS Elemental MediaPackage Dynamic Multiview allows viewers to choose camera angles during live events. According to AWS, this technology reduces layout infrastructure costs by up to 97% by stitching feeds into a single compressed domain. The Indian platform JioHotstar is among the first to adopt this tool.
New metadata extraction capabilities use computer vision to enable real-time highlight clipping and contextual ad placement. Additionally, AWS Elemental MediaTailor Yield Optimization automates the filling of ad slots using insights from Amazon Publisher Services, allowing broadcasters to set custom price floors.
The platform now supports low-latency ad insertion, which was recently utilized by the South American service DSPORTS during FIFA World Cup coverage. This implementation maintained a six-second glass-to-glass latency while delivering targeted advertisements.
