The report from AVILOO analyzes over 500,000 independent tests conducted on used electric vehicles between 2022 and 2026. The study covers 20 popular EV models, providing data on battery health at three specific mileage milestones: 50,000 km, 100,000 km, and 150,000 km.
AVILOO utilizes its proprietary FLASH Test, which performs a three-minute diagnostic via the vehicle's OBD port. Unlike internal dashboard readings, this method calculates the State of Health using a statistical model that accounts for mileage, age, charge cycles, cell voltage spread, and energy counts.
Among the tested vehicles, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 showed the highest median State of Health, ranging from 97.2% at 50,000 km to 92.8% at 150,000 km. The Volkswagen ID.4 and Tesla Model Y followed, with the ID.4 showing 95.3% to 90.6% and the Model Y showing 94.5% to 90.3% across the same range.
The data indicates that the State of Health for individual cars can vary by up to 11%. This difference corresponds to approximately 46 km of real-world range per charge. According to CEO Marcus Berger, such variations significantly impact both the vehicle's actual range and its market value.
