The developer updated the Go-based llama-runner tool to automate the integration between llama-server and the Claude Code agent. The new version simplifies the workflow by launching the server, waiting for its readiness via the /health endpoint, and automatically configuring environment variables for the client.
To resolve compatibility issues, the runner now automatically manages model aliases and Jinja templates. It defaults to the 'local' alias and supports custom template paths, such as the fixed Qwen 3.8 template, to prevent 'System message must be at the beginning' errors during agent operations.
The tool addresses terminal output conflicts by redirecting server logs to a file when Claude Code is active. It also handles process management, ensuring that both the server and the mcp-search-server are correctly terminated when the user exits the agent interface.
The project is open-source and available on GitHub. It supports various configuration flags, including those for context size, batch processing, and MCP proxy mode, allowing users to run local agentic environments without relying on external API keys or cloud services.
