Audible has introduced three new features designed to enhance the audiobook listening experience through generative AI and visual content. These updates include interactive stories, a character guide, and a feature for exploring book settings with additional imagery.

The character guide provides real-time information on speakers and spoiler-free character bios. It is currently available for 'Dracula,' the Audible Original version of '1984,' and the upcoming 'Exoplanet.' Users will eventually be able to ask the guide questions about the plot.

Interactive stories allow listeners to engage in conversations with characters, such as Renfield from 'Dracula.' The AI-powered system assigns roles and goals to the listener, reacting to their spoken responses in real time while remaining faithful to the original narrative.

A third feature offering visual context for landmarks and places is debuting with the title 'The Cultural Tutor: A Modern Guide to History, Art, and Philosophy in 49 Short Chapters.' This tool provides bonus information related to the book's content.

These developments follow a period of growth for the audiobook market, with U.S. sales reaching $2,43 billion in 2025. Audible aims to integrate these features into its platform while maintaining collaboration with original creators.
