ASRock recently released a firmware update for ten of its Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. The VBIOS version 1.0.5, which appeared on the company support pages on October 29, was intended to patch specific GPU models.
The update covers various cards including the RX 7600 XT, RX 7700 XT, RX 7800 XT, and several versions of the RX 7900 XT and XTX. ASRock joined other manufacturers like Sapphire and GIGABYTE in issuing these patches.
Multiple users report that the installation process leads to hardware failure. The issue triggers when the ASRVBFlash 1.0.5 utility initiates a system reboot, after which the computer fails to boot entirely.
Affected users are attempting to resolve the issue by manually reflashing an older version of the VBIOS. Some have successfully restored their cards using firmware files sourced from external databases.
