Users of the newly released Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Series 12 have reported frequent unexpected device reboots. According to diagnostic logs shared by owners on the MacRumors forum, the system crashes are linked to the Apple Neural Engine.
The issues occur during various activities, including using Siri AI, editing watch faces, opening Maps or the App Store, making calls, and tracking workouts. Some users noted that their devices also restart while idle. At least four users provided kernel panic logs showing a consistent Neural Engine timeout, where the component freezes for approximately two seconds before the watchdog triggers a reboot.
The problem persists across different software versions, including the factory-installed watchOS 27.0 and subsequent day-one updates. Attempts to factory reset the devices or replace the hardware have not resolved the crashes for affected users. Reports of the malfunction have surfaced on Reddit and official Apple support forums, with approximately 30 users documenting the issue on MacRumors alone.
As of the latest reports, Apple has not issued an official response regarding the widespread technical failure affecting the new watch models.
