Apple has launched an interactive scavenger hunt across its global retail stores to coincide with the release of the iPhone 18 Pro series. The company placed tiny, handwritten 'hello' markers in hidden locations throughout its stores, such as high shelves, distant display areas, and decorative walls.
The initiative serves as a demonstration of the iPhone 18 Pro's new periscope telephoto lens, which features 8x high-quality zoom capabilities. These markers are intentionally designed to be too small for the naked eye to read, forcing customers to use the device's zoom functionality to reveal the text.
This experiential marketing strategy aims to showcase the optical performance and resolution of the new camera system without relying on traditional technical specifications. The campaign references the original 'Hello' design from the 1984 Macintosh computer, blending brand heritage with modern hardware features.
Following the global launch, many customers have shared photos of the hidden 'hello' markers on social media platforms. Industry analysts suggest that this approach effectively generates buzz and enhances the in-store experience by adding an immersive, aesthetic element to product demonstrations.
