Apple has unveiled its new Siri AI, which will launch in beta alongside iOS 27. The assistant is designed to function as a standalone application capable of managing complex, multi-step conversations and executing tasks across more than 300,000 third-party apps.

During the company's fall event, CEO John Ternus emphasized that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are optimized for these AI features. Apple executives highlighted that their control over hardware, operating systems, and user data positions the company to provide a unique AI experience.

Despite these capabilities, early versions of the software show limitations. Reports indicate that Siri AI currently lacks the ability to read messages from platforms like Gmail or WhatsApp. This restriction underscores the reliance on third-party developers, some of whom offer services that compete directly with Apple.

Industry analysis suggests that Siri AI operates using Google's Gemini models. Under the new iOS 27 framework, users can select which third-party models power their AI features. Apple has stated it will not assume responsibility for the outputs generated by these external models.
