Apple has released two versions of the AirPods 5: a standard model and a high-end version featuring active noise cancellation (ANC). Both models incorporate redesigned ergonomic semi-in-ear contours for a more secure and breathable fit across a variety of ear shapes.
The high-end model's battery life has been extended to 5 hours of continuous playback with ANC enabled, which is a 1 hour increase over the previous generation. Combined with a new compact portable charging case, the total system usage time exceeds 24 hours.
A key software highlight is the integration of real-time translation via Apple Intelligence. Users can activate simultaneous interpretation through a new synchronized press gesture on both stems or by using Siri voice activation, allowing for seamless cross-language communication without needing to frequent phone access.
The high-end version utilizes a new noise cancellation algorithm for semi-in-ear headphones, using multiple microphones for high-frequency sound wave cancellation and low-frequency noise filtering. It retains transparency mode and adaptive audio adjustment features.
