The upcoming iPad 12 will retain the 11-inch full-screen design, aluminum chassis, USB-C port, and side-mounted Touch ID. It will continue to use an LCD display with a 60Hz refresh rate, maintaining its position as an entry-level device rather than a professional-grade tablet.
Internal upgrades are the focus of this model. The device is expected to feature an A18 or A19 processor built on a 3nm process, offering significant performance improvements over the current A16 chip. Memory will be increased to 8GB, up from the previous 6GB.
The increased memory capacity allows the iPad 12 to support Apple Intelligence, making it the first entry-level iPad to offer these features. Users will gain access to AI-driven tools, including an enhanced Siri, writing assistance, content summarization, and image generation.
Connectivity is also set for an overhaul with the potential integration of Apple's proprietary N1 wireless chip. This transition would enable support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and the Thread smart home protocol, providing faster data speeds and lower latency.
