Apple is developing its HomeView smart home hub, which will support third-party audio and video applications. The device utilizes a mechanism similar to CarPlay to integrate these apps when connected to a compatible iPhone or iPad.
The hub is designed to recognize up to six individual users within a home environment. Instead of Face ID, the system relies on the Center Stage camera and voice recognition technology to identify specific family members and provide personalized experiences.
To enable user recognition, the system requires an Apple Intelligence-compatible device that is registered, connected to the local Wi-Fi network, and has been recently unlocked. The hub verifies the presence of the user by matching camera and voice data with the status of their mobile device.
Apple has clarified that Apple Watch does not qualify as a registered personal device for this recognition process. Users must carry a supported iPhone or iPad, which must be running the latest software, have Siri AI enabled, and be set to a supported language.
