Apple is preparing to launch its first smart home hub, HomeView, which features integrated temperature and humidity sensors. The device is designed to monitor indoor environmental conditions and share real-time data with compatible thermostats from LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.
The hub integrates with the Apple Home Collection series to synchronize environmental metrics across the smart home ecosystem. It utilizes on-device AI processing from iPhones to power an Adaptive Temperature feature. This function automates climate control and ventilation systems based on occupancy and user routines, eliminating the need for manual scheduling.
The sensors are optimized for indoor environments, specifically targeting temperature ranges between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius and relative humidity levels between 30 and 70 percent. Apple notes that high-volume audio playback over extended periods may affect sensor accuracy. Additionally, the device requires a calibration period after startup before it can display environmental readings.
