Apple clarified its decision to remove the ICEBlock application from the App Store in a letter sent to Representative Jamie Raskin in July. The app allowed users to track and share the real-time locations of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
The company stated that the removal was driven by safety concerns regarding law enforcement personnel. Apple cited specific incidents, including a fatal shooting at an ICE office in Dallas that resulted in the deaths of two detainees, as well as concerns raised by the Trump administration.
Apple removed the application in October 2025, citing a violation of its App Store Review Guideline 1.1.1. The company argued that providing location data on law enforcement could facilitate harm against officers or groups. The app remains unavailable on the platform.
