John Ternus, who assumed the role of Apple CEO on September 1, recently gave his first interview to Clique TV. During the discussion, he reflected on his new position, noting that saying the iconic phrase 'One more thing' was a remarkable experience given its history with his predecessors.
Regarding the Vision Pro, Ternus described the device as an early stage of computing and the beginning of a long journey. He emphasized that Apple prioritizes user experience over following market trends, aiming to create products that feel right rather than simply combining existing hardware components.
Ternus highlighted the design philosophy behind the iPhone Duo, specifically its 1.4:1 aspect ratio. He explained that this ratio, which is close to the square root of 2, allows for consistent content scaling between the outer and inner screens, ensuring visual continuity for the user.
On the topic of artificial intelligence, Ternus clarified that Siri is designed as an assistant rather than a companion. He stated that Apple does not intend for AI to replace human relationships and that the system is programmed to resist attempts to form emotional bonds.
Finally, the CEO addressed Apple's product longevity strategy. He noted that the company takes pride in building durable devices that can be used for many years, while also ensuring that new models offer significant upgrades to maintain high resale and trade-in value for customers.
