Apple has appointed Scott Tucker, formerly a litigation lead at Meta, as the new Vice President of Global Litigation and Financial Services. This newly created role involves overseeing commercial and patent litigation worldwide, alongside legal matters related to Apple's financial products.
The appointment follows a broader reorganization of Apple's legal and government affairs teams led by General Counsel Jennifer Newstead. Tucker previously worked with Newstead at Meta and held a senior legal position at Morgan Stanley, which aligns with his new responsibilities in financial services.
As part of the restructuring, Heather Grenier, Vice President of Commercial and Competition Litigation, will now report to Tucker. Additionally, Vice President Kyle Andeer has expanded his remit to include international legal affairs, child online safety, cybersecurity, and law enforcement compliance.
Apple is currently navigating multiple legal challenges, including antitrust litigation from the U.S. Department of Justice and a long-standing dispute with Epic Games. The company has faced billions of dollars in settlements and judgments, prompting internal concerns regarding its performance in court.
These legal pressures have forced adjustments to App Store commission policies, impacting the growth of Apple's services division. The reorganization is part of a wider series of leadership changes recently initiated by CEO John Ternus across various departments, including Apple Pay and M&A.
