Apple has updated its support documentation for the new MacBook Pro featuring a PROLED XDR display. The company confirmed that users can now disable the illuminated Apple logo on the lid using a specific command in the Terminal application.

The logo's brightness is managed by software and automatically adjusts based on screen settings and ambient light sensors. It utilizes 25kHz PWM dimming and is individually calibrated for each device, taking into account the chassis color and display brightness levels.

To turn off the light, users must execute the command 'sudo defaults write com.apple.CoreBrightness LEBacklightMode -int 0' and provide an administrator password. Reverting to the default behavior requires running a separate deletion command.

Apple noted that the logo's illumination settings will reset to the default state if the macOS operating system is reinstalled on the device.
