Anthropic has officially launched the Claude Haiku 5.5 model, positioning it as the fastest and most cost-effective addition to its small-scale model lineup. The company reports that the operational costs for this new iteration are approximately 75% lower than those of the previous Haiku 4.5 version.

For requests under 100,000 tokens, the input price is set at $0.10 per million tokens, while the output price is $0.50 per million tokens. Once the request exceeds 100,000 tokens, the pricing increases to $0.50 for input and $2.50 for output per million tokens.

Alongside the new model, Anthropic reduced the cache read price for Sonnet 5.5 from $0.20 to $0.10 per million tokens. This adjustment is expected to decrease the operational costs of Sonnet 5.5 by roughly 20% for most agent-based tasks.

The Haiku 5.5 model features adjustable performance settings, allowing users to balance cost and intelligence. It is also designed to function as a sub-agent model for coding tasks alongside Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5. In performance testing, the model scored 1620 on GDPval-AA v2.1 and 1578 on AA-Briefcase v1.1.
