Anthropic has officially launched Claude for Government, a specialized version of its AI models designed for US federal agencies. The platform, also known as C4G, has moved out of its beta phase and is now generally available for use by government entities.
The service focuses on security and compliance, featuring controls necessary for handling classified information. Federal agencies are already utilizing these models for intelligence analysis and threat assessments, marking a shift from pilot testing to full-scale deployment.
The rollout began in June 2025 with models for classified use cases. By August 2025, the product was added to the US General Services Administration schedule with an entry price of $1 per agency annually.
In July 2026, Anthropic expanded the platform with a public beta that introduced Claude Code and Claude Cowork. These tools operate within a dedicated desktop environment to assist with coding and broader workplace tasks.
Anthropic continues to compete with firms like OpenAI for federal contracts. Despite facing regulatory challenges regarding model usage policies in 2026, the company has maintained its deployment schedule for government-focused AI solutions.
