Anthropic has launched Claude Duet, an AI agent designed to assist professionals and small business owners. Currently in research preview, the tool functions as a digital assistant capable of managing administrative tasks, scheduling meetings, and creating financial or sales forecasts. It can also build dashboards and prototype web applications.
The agent operates by connecting to a user's existing applications, email, and calendar. It communicates via text or voice, maintaining a continuous history within the Claude platform. Users do not need to perform additional setup, as the agent leverages existing Claude memory and skills.
Safety is managed through a framework for trustworthy agents, which includes an automatic classifier to prevent sensitive information leaks. The system requires user confirmation before executing significant actions. Anthropic is currently using the tool internally for tasks such as scheduling interviews and writing code.
The research preview serves to identify potential failure modes and refine the agent's performance. Anthropic notes that the current version is experimental and may occasionally misinterpret urgency. The agent is specifically optimized for professional workflows rather than personal errands.
