Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, an AI agent designed to operate autonomously by monitoring applications such as email and calendars. The tool is built to handle administrative tasks like scheduling and invoicing without requiring constant user prompts.
The agent is powered by the Claude Opus 5.5 model and integrates with the existing memory and skills of a user's account. It allows for continuous interaction via text or voice while performing background operations.
To ensure safety, Duet requires human approval before executing significant actions, particularly those involving financial or legal matters. Background activity performed by the agent is included in the standard usage limits of the Claude platform.
Claude Duet is available as a standalone mobile application for iOS and Android, as well as through the claude.ai website. The service is primarily targeted at professionals and small business owners.
The release follows the integration of the Claude Cowork functionality into the main chat interface in September 2026. Previously, the project was developed under the internal name Claude Loop.
