Anthropic has officially launched Claude for Government, a platform tailored for US federal and state agencies. The service exited its public beta phase, which began in July, and is now fully available for commercial use within the public sector.
The platform operates in a FedRAMP High-authorized environment, ensuring compliance with strict government security standards. It provides government clients with access to model updates and feature releases on a schedule similar to that of commercial users.
The system supports tasks such as drafting memos, reviewing tender documents, and case management. Government software teams can utilize Claude Code to build and maintain core public service systems. Additionally, early testing for Claude for Microsoft 365 is underway.
Administrators can manage organizational configurations, set budgets, and control access permissions. The platform features a prepaid model with spending caps, allowing agencies to track usage by user and model without traditional per-seat licensing fees.
Security features include audit logs, a two-person approval mechanism for sensitive operations, and integration with existing identity management systems via SCIM. Usage data is limited to metering information, while conversation history remains on agency-controlled devices.
