Anthropic has updated the payment interface for its Claude service, now including options for mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. The platform has also integrated support for China UnionPay cards, allowing users in these regions to link their cards for subscription payments.
Despite these payment updates, Anthropic has not officially announced full service availability in these regions. The company's help center continues to state that users must be located in supported regions to access Claude, suggesting that the payment change does not equate to a formal regional launch.
Users have reported the ability to submit appeals for previously permanently banned Claude accounts, with some claiming successful reinstatement. Anthropic provides an official appeal channel through its help center for accounts flagged for policy violations, including unauthorized regional access or terms of service breaches.
Earlier this month, Anthropic introduced simplified and traditional Chinese language support to the Claude web interface. Previously, mainland China briefly appeared as a billing option before being removed, indicating ongoing adjustments to the service's regional accessibility settings.
