Anthropic is considering the release of a new artificial intelligence model to compete with OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra. The company is currently evaluating the safety of this future model as it faces pressure from investors regarding its market position and enterprise tool leadership.
Financial performance remains a central focus for backers. Anthropic reported an annualized revenue of $65 billion in July, with projections reaching $120 billion by year-end. However, investors remain cautious, with IPO valuation estimates ranging from $1.5 trillion to $4 trillion.
The company has adjusted its IPO timeline, shifting the target from late October to November. These strategic shifts occur alongside broader concerns about profitability, as high interest rates drive investors to demand clearer timelines for returns on capital.
CEO Dario Amodei recently advocated for a slower pace in developing AI capabilities, citing potential security risks. In a 3,800-word essay, he warned that unchecked development could lead to significant infrastructure damage within 6–12 months.
Industry experts note a discrepancy between the focus on frontier model development and actual enterprise usage. Data from Ramp’s AI Index indicates that the top 1% of businesses generate the majority of enterprise revenue for model developers.
