Defense contractor Anduril has launched a new venture called BlueChip, focused on manufacturing laptops within the United States. The company aims to establish a fully domestic supply chain, utilizing U.S.-sourced semiconductors, batteries, casings, and display glass.

Founder Palmer Luckey noted that these domestically produced devices are expected to cost 20% more than comparable hardware. The company is targeting sectors such as defense, government, and public safety, where system security is a priority.

BlueChip plans to implement a phased strategy to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. This approach involves expanding domestic sourcing and manufacturing capabilities to eventually build an end-to-end American supply chain for computer components.

The initiative leverages the growth of U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, including new facilities from TSMC and Samsung. Anduril acknowledges that rebuilding the broader industrial base for components like circuit boards and displays remains a significant challenge.
