Anchorage Digital has filed an application with the National Futures Association to register as a swap dealer. The move aims to bring the firm's institutional crypto options business under the formal oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
The filing was submitted on November 5, 2026, through a dedicated entity named Anchorage Digital Swap Dealer, LLC. The application process requires a non-refundable fee of $15,000 and the implementation of a comprehensive compliance infrastructure.
Registration imposes strict obligations regarding capital requirements, risk management, and reporting. These standards are designed to meet the internal compliance needs of institutional clients, such as pension funds and asset managers, who require regulated counterparties.
Founded in 2017 by Diogo Monica and Nathan McCauley, the company is valued at $4.2 billion. Anchorage holds a federal national bank charter, granted in 2021, and a New York BitLicense. The firm previously addressed a 2022 consent order from the OCC regarding anti-money laundering, which was lifted in 2025.
