American Express launched a new corporate platform on September 30, 2026, targeting mid-sized businesses. The service combines Corporate Cashback cards with an updated Amex Expense mobile application, which automates receipt matching, transaction categorization, and real-time tracking of corporate spending.

The platform provides finance teams with a live dashboard and proactive spending recommendations to identify patterns and anomalies. By late autumn 2026, the company intends to integrate AI agents that will communicate via SMS and Slack to remind employees about missing receipts or pending reconciliations.

The development follows the acquisition of Hyper, an AI-focused expense management startup founded in 2022. American Express announced the agreement to purchase the company on April 16, 2026, with the deal expected to close in the second quarter of 2026. The firms previously collaborated on the Hypercard Rewards card in 2024.

With this release, American Express aims to compete with fintech companies such as Brex, Ramp, and Navan. By embedding AI tools directly into its card ecosystem, the company seeks to retain mid-market clients who might otherwise switch to specialized software providers.
