AMD is preparing to raise prices for its hardware lineup by 10 percent. The company cites rising costs from its supply chain, specifically increased wafer pricing from its primary manufacturer, TSMC, as the main driver for this decision.

The price adjustments will impact a broad range of products, including GPUs and motherboard chipsets, with CPUs also potentially affected. This move aims to maintain profit margins for the chip designer amid higher production expenses.

While AMD has previously increased prices for processors and graphics cards due to market demand and DRAM costs, this is a notable expansion into motherboard chipsets. This change will likely force motherboard manufacturers to adjust their own pricing.

As a fabless company, AMD relies on TSMC for silicon production across various nodes, ranging from 2 nm N2 to older mature technologies. Because AMD cannot negotiate lower rates for these wafers, the company is passing the additional costs directly to partners and consumers.
