AMD has announced the acquisition of World Labs, an artificial intelligence research startup co-founded by Dr. Fei-Fei Li. The transaction is structured as an all-stock deal valued at approximately $8.2 billion. The agreement is expected to be finalized by the end of the current year.

World Labs was established in 2024 and achieved a valuation of $1 billion within several months of its inception. In 2025, the company introduced its first commercial product, Marble, which is a model designed to generate interactive 3D environments based on user text prompts.

Following the completion of the deal, Dr. Fei-Fei Li will join AMD as Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist, reporting directly to CEO Lisa Su. The existing World Labs team will maintain its focus on advancing research into AI models under the new corporate structure.

AMD stated that this acquisition is intended to enhance its capabilities in developing hardware, software, and systems tailored to the requirements of emerging AI models. The company aims to leverage the expertise of the World Labs team to support the development of future compute platforms.
