AMD shares have surpassed the $600 mark, bringing the company closer to a market capitalization of $1 trillion. This growth follows a rally throughout 2026, fueled by rising demand for data center hardware and AI accelerators.
In the second quarter of 2026, AMD reported revenue of $11.5 billion, representing a year-over-year increase of more than 50%. The company's data center segment saw its revenue more than double during this period.
The company recently launched the Helios rack-scale AI platform and the Instinct MI400 series GPUs for large-scale training and inference. Partners including Microsoft Azure, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Meta are currently deploying the Helios platform.
Despite the growth, AMD remains smaller than its primary competitor, Nvidia, which maintains a market cap above the $1 trillion threshold. Broadcom also remains a significant rival in the networking and AI chip sectors.
CEO Lisa Su has led the company's transformation since 2015, when it faced potential bankruptcy. Investors have responded to the consistent execution of product roadmaps and financial performance that has frequently exceeded guidance.
