AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su is visiting South Korea on October 6–7, 2026, to meet with Jun Young-hyun, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics' semiconductor division. The primary focus of the trip is securing HBM4 memory supplies for the Instinct MI455X AI accelerators, building on a memorandum of understanding signed in March 2026.
Beyond HBM4, the agenda includes discussions on next-generation DDR5 memory for AMD’s EPYC server processors. The companies are also expected to explore foundry cooperation, which would involve Samsung manufacturing chips designed by AMD to diversify the company's production capabilities.
While the March 2026 talks were high-level and non-binding, the current visit aims to finalize concrete agreements. Samsung has already begun shipping HBM4 to AMD this year, following previous supplies of HBM3E for the MI350X and MI355X accelerators.
In addition to Samsung, Su will participate in roundtable discussions with Korean AI semiconductor firms, including Rebellions and FuriosaAI. Her schedule also features meetings with government officials to discuss ecosystem cooperation and attendance at AMD Gamer Day events.
