AMD CEO Lisa Su visited the Samsung Electronics office in Seoul on October 7 to meet with Samsung co-CEO Jun Young-hyun. The meeting between the two executives lasted for more than three hours.
During the discussion, Su described Samsung as an excellent partner and noted that the companies are engaged in strategic dialogues. When asked about potential collaboration in physical AI and foundry services, Su emphasized that the partnership covers a broad range of sectors.
The companies previously signed a memorandum of understanding in March to cooperate on sixth-generation high-bandwidth memory, known as HBM4, and server DDR5 memory technologies.
Industry analysts suggest that the recent visit may focus on AMD seeking to increase its HBM supply, while Samsung aims to secure additional foundry orders from the chip designer.
