Amazon Web Services’ Strands Labs team has released Strands Decider 2B, an open-source model optimized for rapid decision-making by AI agents. The tool is built on the Qwen3.5-2B-Base architecture and is specifically designed for routing and classification tasks that do not require prose generation.
The model achieves a latency of under 150 milliseconds for local agent decisions. Amazon has published the full codebase and training scripts for the tool, which is now available for developers on the Hugging Face platform.
Market analysts are currently tracking how this release impacts competitors like Anthropic. Current market data shows a 30% probability for Anthropic-related developments by October 2026, a figure that may fluctuate as the competitive landscape evolves with potential responses from Google and Meta.
