Amazon is currently in advanced negotiations to acquire the AI startup Decart for approximately $7 billion. The potential deal follows a previous valuation of nearly $4 billion established during a funding round in May, where Nvidia participated as an investor.
Decart, founded in 2023 by Dean Leitersdorf, Orian Leitersdorf, and Moshe Shalev, specializes in software that enables AI models to run across different chip architectures. Its core product, the Decart Optimization Stack, aims to reduce engineering efforts for developers.
The startup also develops generative AI systems, including the real-time video transformation model Lucy and the interactive simulation environment Oasis. These technologies have applications in gaming, robotics, and autonomous systems.
Amazon aims to integrate Decart’s technology into its cloud division, AWS, to enhance the appeal of its custom Trainium processors. The two companies have collaborated since 2025, when Decart gained early access to Trainium3 chips.
The acquisition talks follow a failed attempt by Anthropic to purchase Decart for approximately $6 billion in August. While the current deal remains uncertain, it highlights the growing industry focus on optimizing AI computing costs and hardware flexibility.
