Amazon is currently in negotiations to acquire AI startup Decart. The potential deal for the developer of AI infrastructure software could reach a valuation of $7 billion. Discussions are ongoing, though the final outcome remains subject to change should other bidders appear.

Decart, founded in 2023 by Dean Leitersdorf, Orian Leitersdorf, and Moshe Shalev, specializes in software that optimizes neural networks for various processors. Its platform, known as DOS, reduces the time required to adapt AI models to specific chips from months to a few weeks. This capability allows companies to migrate workloads between different hardware architectures more efficiently.

The startup also develops world models named Lucy and Oasis, which simulate three-dimensional environments for robotics and gaming. Decart has secured over $400 million in total funding to date, including a $300 million round in May that valued the company at $4 billion. Its investor list features Nvidia Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Benchmark, Radical Ventures, and Adobe Ventures.

The acquisition interest follows previous negotiations involving other parties. Anthropic reportedly considered a $6 billion deal for Decart last month but withdrew following due diligence. Amazon, through its cloud division AWS, has already established a relationship with the startup, providing early access to its custom Trainium3 AI processors.
