Amazon is integrating 3,000 electric trucks from Tata Motors into its Indian logistics network. This initiative expands the company's electrification strategy beyond last-mile delivery to include middle-mile transport between facilities, urban areas, and freight corridors.
The rollout will begin in Delhi during the upcoming festive season, a period marked by peak freight volumes. These vehicles will be owned and operated by Amazon's carrier partners. To facilitate this, the company is collaborating with Yahhvi to develop dedicated charging hubs.
The Tata Ultra E.7 trucks feature regenerative braking, safety systems, and support for DC fast charging. This deployment follows Amazon's existing fleet of over 15,000 electric vehicles currently operating across more than 500 cities in India.
Tata Motors will provide comprehensive support, including vehicle maintenance, operational assistance, and charging infrastructure. Amazon aims to scale this transition from urban logistics to major national highways in subsequent phases.
