Amazon has launched its conversational assistant Alexa+ in India, introducing support for the Hindi language. The updated assistant is designed to maintain context during longer conversations and allows users to switch between English and Hindi mid-sentence.

The service is currently available in Early Access for all customers in India. Following the testing period, Prime subscribers will receive access at no additional cost, while non-Prime users will be charged ₹2,000 or approximately $20.85 per month.

Alexa+ features a more expressive voice and supports complex multi-step tasks, such as ordering groceries via Amazon Now or controlling smart home devices. The assistant is integrated with local services including Swiggy, Zomato’s District, MakeMyTrip, TripAdvisor, EazyDiner, Amazon Music, and JioSaavn.

Amazon first introduced Alexa in India in 2017, adding Hindi support in 2019. The company reports that its smart home device usage in the country has grown by 20% compared to the previous year, targeting a market of over 600 million Hindi speakers.
