Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman announced that the company has stopped using nondisclosure agreements when working with government agencies on data center projects. This decision follows growing public and regulatory scrutiny regarding the transparency of such developments.

Currently, more than 100 moratoriums on data center permits are under consideration across the United States. New York has already implemented a one-year pause on issuing permits for large-scale data center facilities.

Garman addressed concerns regarding resource consumption, stating that Amazon data centers account for 0.5% of industrial water usage in the U.S. He also noted that backup generators typically operate for approximately 10 hours annually for maintenance.

Regarding community investment, Amazon reported contributing over $1 billion to regions where it maintains a significant data center presence over the past three years. The company continues to face skepticism from local communities and activists.
