Altera, a semiconductor company previously acquired by Intel, plans to launch an IPO before the end of 2026. The company aims to raise more than $2 billion through this offering, according to reports from Reuters.

Investment firm Silver Lake, which holds a majority stake in Altera, is overseeing the preparations. The company has engaged financial institutions including Barclays, Citi, JPMorgan, and Morgan Stanley to manage the process, with a formal filing expected in the coming weeks.

Intel acquired Altera in 2015 for $16.7 billion. In 2025, Intel sold a 51 percent stake to Silver Lake for $4.46 billion, valuing the business at $8.75 billion. Intel currently retains a 49 percent ownership interest in the firm.

This potential IPO is projected to be the largest in the semiconductor sector since Arm raised nearly $5 billion in 2023. The offering is part of a broader trend in the US market, where total IPO proceeds reached $137 billion by the end of August 2026.
