Alibaba has updated the Qianwen AI application to include a dedicated protection mode for minors. Parents can activate this feature in the app settings using a separate password. Once enabled, the interface restricts access to specific tools, focusing exclusively on educational tasks such as photo-based Q&A, AI writing, translation, and deep research.
The updated mode isolates conversation history from the standard version and blocks access to third-party links to minimize exposure to inappropriate content. The system is programmed to filter out vulgar or violent material and provides age-appropriate responses. Additionally, the AI will decline requests to simulate virtual companions or family members to prevent unhealthy emotional dependencies.
The application now includes safety features for emotional well-being. If the system detects extreme emotional distress, it provides information for professional psychological support hotlines. Furthermore, the app implements a usage limit, sending a break reminder to the user after 30 minutes of continuous activity to help manage screen time.
