Alibaba Cloud's Wuying team is currently developing an AI-focused device named QwenBook. Positioned as a native agent computer, the hardware resembles a tablet. The project leverages the team's existing expertise in cloud computing and system architecture, which was previously developed for cloud-based PC solutions.

The project team consists of approximately 150 members, including specialists from the Wuying and Alibaba Cloud OS divisions, as well as new hires from major smartphone manufacturers. Development of the device began around April of this year. The product is currently in an early testing phase with a primary focus on office productivity.

The device integrates Qwen3.8-Max and Qwen3.8-Flash models. It features a proprietary suite of tools, including system-level note-taking, intelligent file management, and a custom email client. Additionally, the team is collaborating with Kingsoft to integrate WPS Office, though this feature remains under development.

A demonstration version of QwenBook will be showcased at the upcoming Apsara Conference to illustrate the product's core concept. The final version of the device is expected to be released by the end of this year or early next year. This initiative follows the August public beta launch of Alibaba's enterprise-grade agent product, Qianwen Office.
