Marc Vanlerberghe, the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at the Algorand Foundation, resigned on October 14, 2026. He had served the organization for 2.5 years, having joined in March 2024.

This departure follows the exit of CTO Bruno Martins around October 9, 2026. These changes occur under the leadership of new CEO William Herkelrath, who assumed his position on August 31, 2026, following the resignation of former CEO Staci Warden.

The foundation has also updated its board composition. William Herkelrath and Alex Fowler joined the board, while Rebecca Rettig and Michael Mosier stepped down.

CEO William Herkelrath is currently conducting a review of the foundation's partnerships and initiatives. His stated objective is to transition Algorand toward a self-sustaining model.

The new strategy focuses on two primary areas: increasing institutional adoption among financial entities and enhancing the network's post-quantum cryptography capabilities.
