Airbus has successfully completed the maiden flight of its new A350F large freighter. The test aircraft, identified by serial number MSN 700, remained in the air for 4 hours and 10 minutes, reaching an altitude of 25,000 feet during its first mission.

The A350F shares a technical platform with the A350 passenger aircraft, ensuring high compatibility. Specifically, 100% of engine parts and tools, 99% of airframe tools, and 98% of spare parts are interchangeable between the two models.

The freighter features the largest main deck cargo door in the industry. It offers a payload capacity of 111 tons and a flight range of 8,700 kilometers. The design incorporates advanced aerodynamics and Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines.

By utilizing carbon fiber and other lightweight materials, the aircraft achieves a maximum takeoff weight 46 tons lower than its competitors. This design reduces fuel consumption by up to 40% and meets the latest ICAO carbon dioxide emission standards.

As of late August 2026, Airbus has secured 115 orders for the A350F from 14 public customers. The model currently holds a 59% market share in the large freighter segment.
